See you Sunday!
This Sunday, a small group of us from Guildford Hard of Hearing Support Group will be pulling on our walking boots and joining the Rotary Club of Guildford for their annual charity walk — up to ten miles from Shalford Park, starting at 10am.
I'll be honest: ten miles is a proper commitment. But so is living with hearing loss. And that's exactly why we're doing it.
The money raised will be shared between Guildford Hard of Hearing Support Group , the National Deaf Children's Society, and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People — three charities that between them support people across every stage of the hearing loss journey, from children just finding their way to adults who've been managing it for decades.
We have a particular soft spot for Hearing Dogs this year. Some of you will already know about Elmo — a hearing dog in training who is part-funded by last year's walk. Elmo is a reminder of just how much difference these events can make. Real dogs, real lives, real independence.
If you can't join us on the day, please do consider sponsoring us. Every pound goes directly to organisations that provide practical, life-changing support. You can reach us at askghoh@hotmail.com or text 07761 000549 and we'll point you in the right direction.
And if you'd like to walk with us — you are very welcome. Come along to Shalford Park (GU4 8AA) on Sunday 17th May. We'd love the company.
See you on the other side — and hopefully the sun will be shining.
